The ibis was a celebrated and sacred bird in ancient times. A bird with elegant plumage, the scarlet ibis inhabits tropical coasts and beaches, muddy estuaries and tidal flats. There is no mistaking this one! They feed on small crabs, mollusks, aquatic insects, some fishes, snails and green algae.
